Who are we?

We are a fit (less the odd bad knee and tweaked lower back) adventurous family of three with a passion for experiencing unique travel destinations, devouring local cuisines and indulging in local culture.

We enjoy a variety of styles of travel from barefoot luxury to how-the-f-did-we-get-here to good ole family resorts. We definitely enjoy getting a bit off the beaten track here and there and we love to have a good time!

Matt loves a snow trip – think dramatic mountain ranges with snow capped peaks or ancient villages, rich in history and architecture with a sprinkle of Christmas markets. He is partial to a well-earned sundowner whilst admiring an epic sunset.

Matt’s favourite destination so far has to be the Dolomites region in Italy, super fond memories of Grandbaita Hotel in Selva. His next dream destinations include Scotland – St Andrew’s specifically (aka home of golf) and he is drawn to the dramatic landscapes and raw natural beauty of Iceland.

I (Monique) have previously had a weakness for being on or near a tropical island – think Bedarra, Mission Beach or The Seychelles – yes, yes my obsession knows no bounds, to cruising European coastlines – think Euro Summer with bestie, Croatia island hopping or even adventuring into the Bornean jungle (via wooden canoe of course, so intrepid)

Vietnam | Oct 24

These days I’m drawn to rugged, raw landscapes and ancient cultures. Not vibing crowds or “tourist attractions” and so here for a lived experience.

Whilst I too can seriously appreciate a sunset – especially that big gorgeous ball dropping over the Darwin or Port Douglas Coast – I just love waking up to see the sun rise and making the most of the enduring jet lag. There’s something magical about that time of the morning – excitement and anticipation of what the day may deliver and discoveries to be had.

My favourite destination so far has been Italy – if I HAD to pick – Verona. I fell in love with their locally produced Amarone wine. It has utterly ruined me for any red wine since. I will dedicate a post purely to Verona – and possibly a tribute page to the wine itself.

My next dream destinations are Kazakhstan, Slovakia and Patagonia – bit of a theme there..

And last but not least, little Max – he loves meeting new people and having fun no matter where he goes. He had a blast and learned to walk in Vietnam and Cambodia. Partial to a playground, Peppa Pig and a biig bowl of hot chips. Not so keen on the local cuisines as yet but we’re working on him! ✌️

Local fave – The Doonan, Sunshine Coast ☀️
